Orange Chicken

Jump to Recipe

I used to buy the Costco Orange chicken for a super easy dinner night…but as my kids were getting bigger, that box was not cutting it for everyone getting enough food and still being cost-effective! I had to find an easy way to make orange chicken on a weeknight….and thus this recipe came alive. I am not joking when I say…my kids DEVOUR this meal…I pair with just plain rice, edamame, and if I am feeling like it…maybe some potstickers. Every one of them gets more, and every one of them gets excited for this orange chicken….and it is seriously so easy!

Orange Chicken Sauce

Ingredients:

  • Kirkland Chicken Nuggets
  • 1 cup Orange Juice
  • 1/3 cup brown sugar
  • 1 Tbsp Honey
  • 2 Tbsp Rice Vinegar
  • 2 Tbsp Soy Sauce
  • 1 tsp ginger
  • 2 tsp minced garlic
  • Orange zest (from one orange)
  • 1 Tbsp Corn starch
  • 2 tbsp water
  • Sriracha or red pepper flakes to taste (if your fam likes it spicy)
  • 3-4 cups cooked white rice
  • serve with edamame and potstickers if you're feeling fancy

Instructions:

Throw your chicken nuggets on a sheet pan and into the preheated oven to bake. While they bake add the orange juice, brown sugar, honey, rice vinegar, soy sauce, ginger, minced garlic, and orange zest to a small bowl and mix.

Get your rice cooking and set aside.

When you're nuggets are done, add all of the ingredients above into a small pot and heat until boiling. In the same small bowl you had (no reason to dirty another one), mix the corn starch and water together. Add to the boiling mixture and stir until it has thickened slightly.

Pour over cooked chicken nuggets and serve over rice.
